With a large selection of various types of vinyl tile and sheet vinyl, you will find that it is best to lean on an experienced sales associate for their depth of knowledge. Come into our warehouse or set an in-home appointment so you can figure out the best choice for your home and your budget.
Once you choose what type of vinyl to put in, it is time to prepare for the big day!
You can prepare your house for your new vinyl floor by going through the rooms that will have the new vinyl installed and making sure they are ready for the installation. Some things you can do is make sure no furniture is anchored to the walls, remove magazines, books, lamps, breakable objects, and other knick-knacks from your tables, bookshelves and desks. The vinyl installers will need to move your furniture around, so all of this stuff should be put away. Please disconnect all electronics.
Our vinyl installers will then move the furniture out of the way and one of many different things will happen depending on the type of subfloor, condition of your subfloor, and what type of vinyl flooring we are putting in (Ask your sales associate for more info for your particular vinyl installation). If the condition of your subfloor is poor, we will either lay a new subfloor over the existing, skim coat over the existing, or remove the existing subfloor and lay a new subfloor down. If the condition of your existing subfloor is good and depending on what type of subfloor it is (Plywood, Sheet Vinyl, Vinyl Tile, VCT, Luxury Vinyl Tile, or Luxury Vinyl Plank), we might skim over it or lay the vinyl directly on top. One way or another there is probably some subfloor patching that needs to get done prior to laying a vinyl floor.
If you are having sheet vinyl installed, it will be cut into pieces to fit the layout of your home. If you are having vinyl tile or plank installed, the installer will decide where to start the project and begin. Depending on the type of sheet vinyl flooring and job site conditions it will either be glued down, stapled, or loose laid.
Adhesive for the vinyl tile or plank will be applied to the floor using special tools. Typically we have to wait for the adhesive to set up before laying our first vinyl tile or plank. After the adhesive has set up the vinyl tile or plank will then be laid out, or tiled, and this continues until all the vinyl is down.
The installers will then put molding around the baseboard of the walls, as a final preparation for the furniture to come back into the room. Once the molding is in, the vinyl installers will carry the furniture back into the room, and everything is finished!
A new vinyl floor, whether it is Luxury Vinyl Tile, Luxury Vinyl Plank, Sheet Vinyl or Vinyl Tile, will make your house look brand-new! What are you waiting for?
